Deputy Commander of the National Police and Interim Commander of the Metropolitan Police spoke of prepared security measures, revealing that 9 companies with a total of 1,350 officers are awaiting deployment. The first 7 companies dispatched are comprised of police, with the additional 2 being composed of military personnel tasked with securing the surrounding perimeter of the ongoing People’s Alliance for Democracy rally. Security personnel are focusing their efforts on detering clashes between the PAD and opposing groups.
Police, being allowed only the use of their riot shields, are maintaining a gap of no less than 50 meters between the PAD and other groups. The police force securing the Parliament however has been allowed full armament and is monitoring against trespassers. Officers have been ordered to closely follow news as to not be interefered with by interlopers.
