DEP: advanced IT necessary to logistic management

The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) indicates that advanced information technology has become a necessity in logistic management especially in reduction of production costs and increased competition.

Director of Trade Logistic Office under DEP, Mr. Panot Punyahotra (ปณต บุณยะโหตระ), says logistic technologies have continuously improved these days, adding that the technologies including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Radio-frequency identification (RFID) and Rosetta Net, an emerging set of standards based on XML, aims at aligning business processes with trading partners.

The concept of applying these information technologies to logistic is to increase the capability of connecting information ranging from production, delivery, storage, warehouse management to product distribution. The concept also ensures consumers in receiving their products accordingly. Entrepreneurs are advised to study and implement advanced technology into their logictic planning in order to seek the best interests to their businesses.
