Democrat party says PM should remove critical television program to promote unitySeptember 29th, 2008 - 11:13 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Democrat Party yesterday called for the Prime Minister to cease the broadcast of “Kwam Jing Wan Nee” (ความจริงวันนี้) to ensure more unity in the country while asking for a response to the concept of “New Politics”.
Deputy Secretariat of the Democrat Party Theptai Saenpong (เทพไท เสนพงศ์) stated yesterday that his party agrees with Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat’s comments about political parties not be dividing but said that differing opinions should still be respected. He asked that the PM consider removing “Kwam Jing Wan Nee” or “The Truth Today” from broadcast on NBT which the Democrat party views as a show that attacks opposing view points to the government. Mr. Theptai said that Mr. Somchai could illustrate his commitment to unity by removing the program.
Democrat Party Spokesman Dr. Booranuch Samutrak (บูรณัชย์ สมุทรักษ์) criticized the PM’s Cabinet, calling it a nominee government with unqualified ministers. He expresses his belief that this government has ulterior motives to amend the constitution and called on the PM to respond to the “New Politics” concept and open a public forum to seek solutions to the current political situation.
The Democrat party as a whole however focused on the new government abandoning its efforts to amend the constitution and taking a serious stance against corruption.
