Democrat Party BKK Governor Campaign meets with BKK Election Commission
September 4th, 2008 - 4:34 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiThe Director of the Democrat Party’s Bangkok Governor Campaign, Mr. Ong-art Klampaiboon (องอาจ คล้ามไพบูลย์), along with Bangkok Governor candidate, Mr. Apirak Kosayothin (อภิรักษ์ โกษะโยธิน), met with Bangkok District Election Commission Chairman Vice Admiral Narong Chalothorn (ณรงค์ ชโลธร) to request information on how the Bangkok Governor’s election should proceed under the Emergency Decree.
Vice Admiral Narong said that he would submit an urgent letter to the Central Election Commission to obtain relevant information. Officials responsible for upholding the Emergency Decree will be asked on how they wished to proceed, while authorization will be requested to allow Bangkok Governor candidates to campaign.
The Bangkok District Election Commission Chairman said that governor candidates will have to avoid active campaigning at the moment and should resort to other avenues to introduce themselves to their constituents. Vice Admiral Narong adds that the possible dissolution of Parliament will have no effect on the Bangkok Governor election on October 5. Meanwhile Bangkok Governor candidate Apirak Kosayothin reveals that he has postponed his public campaign appearances and speeches until clarification is obtained from the Election Commission.
