Democrat Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva commented on the Thai-Cambodian border negotiations being led by Army Commander General Boonsarng Niempradit (บุญสร้าง เนียมประดิษฐ์), saying that he did not expect the talks to conclude the entire matter but hoped for the discussions to create a level of understanding to deter any violent incidents. He said that the government is working pro actively to sustain good relations with the neighbor country and affirmed that all problem solving should take place during negotiations.
The Democrat leader also responded to the People Power Party’s statement that Thai citizens had moved into debated territories during the government of former Prime Minister Chuan Leekphai by saying that problem solving should be focused on the present and not past events.
