Continuous rain swamps roadways in Phetchabun provinceSeptember 13th, 2008 - 1:33 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Continuous heavy rain has resulted in flooding in the Lom Sak (หล่มสัก) municipality of Phetchabun province. Water levels have reached 10 to 20 centimeters, and flood inundation has been reported along several segments of the Saraburi-Lom Sak Road (สระบุรี-หล่มสัก) in the Phetchabun mueang district. Some segments of the road remain transversable by small vehicles, while others are completely impassable.
Local residents report that the Saraburi-Lom Sak Road was flooded during a particularly heavy rainstorm which took place at 3:00 AM today (September 13). Officials believe that rains will continue, resulting in increased obstruction of motor traffic in the province. The Phetchabun Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and relevant agencies are currently deploying personnel and equipment to drain water from roadways and to respond to emergency calls.
No reports of major damage to infrastructure or loss of life have been made so far.
