Commerce Minister confident export growth to reach 25% this year
September 15th, 2008 - 2:55 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiCommerce Minister Chaiya Sasomsab (ไชยา สะสมทรัพย์) attends a meeting with Thai commercial diplomats stationed in 57 countries worldwide to assess the export situation of Thailand. The minister expresses his confidence that this year’s export growth will reach 25% despite political turmoil.
The minister discloses that the meeting was initiated to discuss Thailand’s export situation and the economy which has been affected by the prolonged rally by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD). However, the minister says he hopes that the economy will rebound after the government lifted Emergency Decree on September 14th.
Mr Chaiya also says the meeting has assigned the commercial diplomats to clarify Thailand’s political situation to the country where they are stationed and help promoting jewelry and spa businesses as well as Thailand’s important agricultural products such as rice.
