Commander of the Royal Thai Air Force Air Chief Chalit Pukpasuk (ชลิต พุกผาสุข) stated that the military has no preferences as to the selection of the new Prime Minister as it is a political affair. Personally the commander commented that the only issue concerned is whether the new PM’s performance will benefit the country or not.
Air Chief Chalit however stated that current Interim PM Somchai Wongsawat’s image of being related to the Shinawatra family is a fact that he must accept but admitted that despite his family ties he may still be able to work for the good of the nation and build trust. He asked that the outcomes of the current issue be focused on and said that the possbility of Parliament Dissolution should not be a cause for concern. The Air Force Commander said that he has no opinions on whether or not a dissolution would positive or negative but accepted that it is a valid option.
