Chavalit bails himself out from the lottery case

Chavalit Yongchaiyudh (พลเอกชวลิต ยงใจยุทธ), appeared at The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions to place his assets worth of 2 million Baht as bail. He has been accused of authorizing the special 2 and 3 digit-lotteries while assuming the premier post. Other defendants in this case include Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee (สุรพงษ์ สืบวงศ์ลี), the acting deputy PM and Finance Minister, Mrs. Auraiwan Tientong (นางอุไรวรรณ เทียนทอง), the acting Labour Minister and Mr. Anurak Jureemas (นายอนุรักษ์ จุรีมาศ), the acting Transport and Communications Deputy Minister. The Supreme Court has set out the case’s first hearing on September 26th.
