The Cabinet has allocated 316 million baht to create the first ever Innovation Park in Asia in hope of promoting Thailand as the hub of innovation system development.
Dr. Supphachai Lohlohakarn (ศุภชัย หล่อโลหการ), the director of the National Innovation Bureau under the authorization of the Ministry of Science and Technology disclosed today (August 26th) that the park would be constructed in a 10,000-square-meter compound owned by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Apart from promoting Thailand as the hub of innovation system development, Dr. Supphachai stated that the construction also aimed to increase the competitiveness of the local innovation industry business to the private sector. He said that the park would help assist business people in terms of innovation business as well in an attempt to add more value to their innovation products.
Dr. Supphachai said the park would aim to create network and cooperation among investors in the innovation industry and those in manufacturing, finance, investment, and research and development segment as well. The Innovation Park is expected to be completed by 2010.
