Cabinet approves preparations for public referendum
September 4th, 2008 - 2:08 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiMinister of Culture Somsak Kiatsuranond (สมศักดิ์ เกียรติสุรนนท์) reveals that a special Cabinet meeting today (September 4) has resulted in approval of preparations for a public referendum to determine the nation’s stance towards the People’s Alliance for Democracy’s demonstrations.
The Office of the Juridical Committee will be tasked with studying laws pertaining to the matter first, while questions which will be in the public referendum will be determined later. Mr. Somsak said that the Prime MInister still believes the public referendum to be the best solution to Thailand’s political situation.
Following the special Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej (สมัคร สุนทรเวช ) exited the Royal Thai Army headquarters via an underground passage and is scheduled for a radio broadcast on the FM 97.0 station at 14:00 today (September 4).
