The Ministry of Finance will allocate budget of more than 93 million baht as a special wage for teachers working under the Ministry of Education.
Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Somchai Wongsawat (สมชาย วงศ์สวัสดิ์), reports that a meeting between the ministry’s executives has acknowledged the results of a pilot project to increase income of teachers during the economic crisis. The project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. It has the objective to increase income of teachers and other educational personnel in the operational level as well as develop vocational skills for students and other groups of people from 20 provinces across the country.
According to Mr Somchai, the Finance Ministry will pay the wage of 200 baht per hour for teachers under the Ministry of Education in the project scheduled from August to September this year. The budget of more than 93 million baht is estimated.
The deputy premier says he expects that more than 4,700 teachers and educational personnel and about 189,000 students will join in the project.
