BKK International Film Festival 2008 kicks off

Bangkok International Film Festival 2008 kicked off at SF World Cinema in Central World Department Store. More than 79 international films from over 40 countries worldwide participate in the festival.

The festival’s opening film is “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” by famous American director Woody Allen. TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, Juthaporn Rerngronasa (จุฑาพร เริงรณอาษา), presided over the opening ceremony of the event. She said Bangkok International Film Festival can draw a number of both Thai and foreign participants who work in the film industry to Thailand. The festival is also a good opportunity for Thailand to promote its motion pictures and good image in order to stimulate the economy.

Judges of the film competitions include Singaporean director Eric Khoo, Swiss director Martial Knaebel, and Thai actor Ananda Everingham. Bangkok Film Festival is scheduled from September 23rd – 30th, 2008, at SF World Cinema in Central World and Aksara Theatre in King Power Duty Free Complex.
