Ayutthaya Governor to take action against district chief neglecting to prevent flooding
July 26th, 2008 - 1:56 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiGovernor of Ayutthaya province, Preecha Kamonbutr (ปรีชา กมลบุตร), says he will disciplinary punish district chiefs who let flooding takes place at important places and calls on local administrative organizations to quickly cooperate in tackling flood situations.
The governor says he is concerned over flooding as there are many factors suggesting that the province will be flooded again this year. Important places which have to be prevented from flooding include temples, historic sites, schools, and government places, the governor says. District chiefs who neglect to prevent flooding will be investigated by a disciplinary panel.
The governor states further that he has instructed all provincial and local administrative organizations to speed up surveying important places in their area and allocating budget for the construction of earth dykes to prevent floods. He has also instructed the provincial irrigation office to survey water sources and areas which can be turned to be “monkey cheeks” or flood water storing areas.
