September 5th, 2008 - 9:41 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi -

Army Area 1 Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Prayut Chan-Ocha (ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา) stated after a meeting of Emergency Decree Board members that the board has committed to remaining non-violent and will use only peaceful means and focus on negotiations. The meeting has tasked police with making transgressors of Emergency Decree law aware of their infractions and the details of their crimes.

Lieutenant General Prayut urged all sides to reduce their stipulations and asked that citizens sympathize with authorities who are working for the benefit of the entire public. He said that officials are not only concerned about the demonstrations, but also their affects on average citizens and asked that all sides both for and opposing as well as those who are neutral consider unity as an important trait of the nation.

The Commander-in-Chief denied to speak of revolution and asked citizens to focus more on how to resolve the situation. He said that the Emergency Decree will last 3 months and may be extended or prematurely revoked.
