All trains nationwide expected to resume service next week
September 12th, 2008 - 11:12 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiState Railway Authority of Thailand President Yuthana Thapcharoen (ยุทธนา ทัพเจริญ) expects that trains in the Southern part of Thailand and nationwide may be ready to resume their service around the beginning of next week.
Following the negotiation with SRT unionists yesterday (September 11th), Mr. Yuthana says the SRT staff who have been taking leave will come to work as normal next week. In this connection, he says around 64 Southern trains will be able to resume their service including others nationwide as well.
After discussing with the acting Minister of Transport Mr. Santi Promphat (สันติ พร้อมพัฒน์), Mr. Yuthana says the caretaker has placed the policies to SRT executives in bring the situations back on track, including examining security of railway routes nationwide, adding that trains in the three Southern provinces in particular must receive cooperation from National Security’s officers. He admits that 15 days of suspended service costs a huge damage.
