He says 22% of the fruits exported to China have numerous aphis and ant.

The minister says he is very concerned over the standards of Thai fruits especially those exported to China during Beijing Games as there will be many important people and press members worldwide attending the games in China. If these people buy the damaged fruits imported from Thailand, the country’s fruit export may be affected in the long run.

Mr Somsak also requests the Thai fruit exporters to strictly inspect their products to China to prevent a bad reputation about Thailand and says the ministry will impose long-term measures to tackle fruits damaged by insects.
