ABAC poll: 71.5% of public supports PMSeptember 22nd, 2008 - 9:40 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
ABAC poll disclosed that 71.5% of the surveyed general public supported new prime Minister, Mr. Somchai Wongsawat, based on his gentle character.

The poll conducted 2,716 samplings in Bangkok and peripheral areas. Most of the surveyed people accounting for 75.1% were prepared to support Mr. Somchai as he is gentle. 28.5% disapproved him.
63.7% of the surveyed people were doubtful on Mr. Somchai’s possibly helping his associates who were financial supporters and politicians and his relatives.
More than half of the respondents accounting for 53.3% were interested in the proposed national government, while 46.7% were not interested in the proposal.
Dr. Noppadon also said that ABAC’s earlier poll indicated that the government’s supporters and opponents were identical in number. Most of them were silent majority group of people.
But now, people offered opportunity to the government. The “majority people” is supporting Mr. Somchai. In addition, number of opponents decreased from 19.7% from earlier poll to 11.2% now. People who were not against Mr. Somchai increased from 68.7% to 86.5%.
The latest poll also indicated that among supporters, 37.9% wanted the government to fulfill its four years term. 36.1% of this group preferred to see it to be in office for the next couple of years, while 26.0% wanted the new government to stay not in excess of one year.
