Wiang Chiang Saen Promoting Tourism

Tambon Wiang Chiang Saen Municipality in the northern province of Chiang Rai invested more than a million baht to provide electric train service for tourists who want to visit the ancient city and observe the traditional way of life of Chiang Rai people. The move aims to stimulate tourism in Chiang Rai.

About 20,000 Thai and foreign tourists travel to tambon Wiang Chiang Saen to witness the beauty of the city each month. In order to further promote tourism, Tambon Wiang Chiang Saen Municipality bought two train bogies with 12 seats each to facilitate the tourists. The train service is free of charge, and it is opened from 8 AM to 7 PM.

The municipality is arranging tour programs for different tour groups accordingly so they can appreciate the ancient city and the local way of life. Top destinations in Wiang Chiang Saen include the three-sided city wall, the areas along Kong River, and the beautiful natural scenery in Pa Sak Temple. In addition, the pagoda of Phra That Chedi Luang Temple and Mung Muang Temple are other attractions, and if there is time left, tourists can also visit the Golden Triangle.

An assistant academic in Wiang Chiang Saen, Mr. Sanong Kansriwiang, said tourists can use this special train service without charges, and it is aimed to stimulate the tourism industry in this tambon.
