Walmart Offers New “No-Contact, Post-Paid” Cell Phone
September 15th, 2010 - 2:22 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonSep 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Walmart, the super department store in America, is stepping into the post paid cell phone market and has announced the release of their new forty-five dollar a month unlimited plan which the chain claims can save families up to twelve hundred dollars a year.
The new unlimited talk/texting plan is going to operate under the T-Mobile Network, beginning on the 20th of September. The “Family Mobile” plan is being called by Walmart as a “no surprise” service, which will have a fixed monthly cost of forty five dollars a month, for the first line, and another twenty five a month for more lines added to the account.
As far as data plans, it is not unlimited, but will not add more to your bill by overuse. The access to the Internet will come preloaded on a 100 MB “Webpack” which is shared among all of the lines on an account. The unused data never expires, and more Webpacks can be purchased at Walmart stores and online.
Instead of paying in advance, as with pre-paid accounts, this one is a post-paid account, which means that customers will pay at the end of each month.
Greg Hall, the vice president of merchandising, Walmart,USA, stated, “Wal-Mart Family Mobile makes it more affordable to build meaningful relationships with family and friends so that even when budgets are limited, time spent communicating with loved ones isn’t. This plan provides families with the flexibility to connect with each other without surprise charges and with the added benefit of one of the most trusted wireless network providers.”
