Dec.09, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amidst much hoopla and media frenzy, Vevo, touted as the Hulu for Music, went live last night. It is a music video site jointly owned by media giants like EMI, Universal and Sony BMG. In the early stage, the music will be provided by UMG. The revenue will be shared by Universal and Google.
A party was held in New York to celebrate the launch of the site and the event was attended by several media barons and celebrities. However, the music lovers may be disappointed to know that the Vevo.com site is still under development and it will take some time before it becomes fully functional. As an alternative, one can search in YouTube for titles from UMG and Sony, and chances are there that he may come across some Vevo videos. These videos can feature some additional attributes also.
A few clips of pop diva Britney spears can be found with the Vevo label at the YouTube site. Luckily for the users, those videos resemble YouTube videos almost completely. Since the site is far from completeand very new, the companies supplying the title as well as Google, do not expect all users to search it a lot initially. That is why they will supply some titles to YouTube site directly. Rio Caraeff, the CEO of Vevo said in his statement at the launch promotional party that Vevo is more profit oriented than YouTube. With time, Vevo will offer the users videos of artists like Mariah Carey, Marie J Bilge and more.
