joel_vzw_dsc_0533-707718June 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Verizon wireless is going all out with an aggressive and new marketing campaign to promote its upcoming android based smart phones. The Droid 2 is nearing its launch and the company wants to repeat its success with Droid with the new phone as well. The news was leaked last week when Droid X was introduced. Verizon Wireless is well known for its successful advertising and many people still recall its brilliant Droid Does ad where it mocked rival AT&T and iPhone before launching the first Droid. The new ad however will not be a spoof on Apple as it as been reported. The focus has shifted elsewhere.

The nationwide campaign will be based on its Summer of Droid theme. The campaign will go on till the upcoming Droid 2 is unleashed in the market in August. The company is going for a new look and name as well. It will drop the wireless part from its name and henceforth it will be known as Verizon. Verizon has finally announced that it will drop the quest for launching iPhone under its banner as it has decided to set focus on Android based smart phones. The release of both Droid X and Droid 2 is the reason behind this Android based campaign.

The release of the new Android 2.2 Froyo has also created a sensation in the smart phone market. Meanwhile other USA based cellular operators are also trying to cash in on the Android wave. IPhone carrier AT &T has launched Motorola BackFlip and other android phones while Sprint is counting on its new HTC EVO 4G.
