verizon-007Jan 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The wait of the Apple iPhone lovers who have always opted for a better carrier than AT&T may be over soon if the industry buzz is to be believed. Verizon which is the biggest mobile network service provider in USA may start selling iPhone. The rumors of the network selling iPhone circulated online many times before but nothing materialized. Right from the debut of iPhone it has been sold by AT&T arch rival of Verizon, while Verizon has concentrated on selling Android based smart phones including the ones from Motorola. The industry experts say that if Verizon indeed begins selling iPhone it will be profitable for both the carrier and Apple. It will also bring an end to the exclusive agreement AT&T has with Apple. As a matter of fact, the iPhone users have complained numerous times about the shoddy network of AT&T which lags behind Verizon. Their woes may come to an end now.

Apple has 27&share in US smart phone market a tad better than Android based phones and at par with RIM’s BlackBerry. With Verizon starting to sell iPhone its market share can go up significantly. AT&T may also lose a significant number of customers both new and the existing ones with this development. Existing owners of iPhone may worry as they may not be able to change their network without some hassle. This is owing to the fact AT&T uses GSM standard while Verizon runs on CDMA network, both the technologies are different.

Verizon’s chief executive revealed at the ongoing CES 2011 that the carrier will launch 10 different smart phones and tablets on its expanding LTE 4G network. The iPhone details were not divulged by him though.
