San Francisco, Jan 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The social networking and the micro blogging site Twitter is completely down, for the last 30 minutes at least. About 3 minutes ago, official status blog of Twitter posted an update:-
“Extremely high volume of whales
We are experiencing an outage due to an extremely high number of whales. Our on-call team is working on a fix.”
Some people think that a huge tidal wave of tweets about the morning’s earthquake in Haiti might have brought the popular site to its knees. A huge earthquake of 7.0 magnitude rocked Haiti on last Tuesday. And a 6.1 magnitude aftershock rocked it today morning.
Twitter is quite a popular medium of communication these days, and all the popular figures and stars use it to stay in touch with their fans. Recently Bill Gates and even the charismatic US President Barack Obama joined Twitter. Their first tweets generated a lot of interest from the fellow twitterers and they could also be a possible cause for the surge in traffic on Twitter.
