TwitChange enables you to pay for celebs to tweet to you
September 17th, 2010 - 8:16 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattSep 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A charitable organization known as TwitChange is helping raise funds for victims of the Haiti earthquake by giving Twitter users the chance to get a tweet from more than 150 famous people around the world after a donation. The offer started on Wednesday and will expire on September 25.
TwitChange has the full support of Hollywood actress Eva Longoria who wants to help in the noble initiative. It was founded by a pastor from Atlanta called Shaun King who also created the charity organization, A Home in Haiti.
Longoria, famous for her role in popular series, Desperate Housewives helped in the creation of the plan after King made the initial idea known to her. She has over 700,000 followers on Twitter currently.
King said he wasn’t very optimistic about the way to move forward even when the actress told her, she wanted to help as he didn’t known the level of help he could get from her but in the end she was very cooperative and gave her best to make the plan a reality.
People interested in a celebrity tweet made offers at auctions on EBay and the campaign raised almost $100,000 in its first day. Celebrities onboard include Jessica Alba, Shaquille O’Neal, Demi Moore, etc.
