Toshiba recalls 41,000 notebooks in the US because of overheating issues

Sep 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Toshiba is all set to recall 41,000 notebooks in the US because of overheating issues. There were many reports that the notebooks were getting heated so badly that they had even melted in certain cases. There were in all 129 complaints of the overheating issues. There were also 2 complaints in which the notebooks heated up so badly that they caused burn injury to the users. Apart from that, there were also instances when the notebooks managed to set off a small fire, which in turn destroyed property.

The US and Canadian government officials also confirmed the recall and said that the notebooks can overheat when they are plugged in for charging.

After getting so many complaints, Toshiba was forced to announce the recall and they are also advising the users to download the remedial software without any further delay. The officials at Toshiba also said that the issue was due to a faulty DC-in harness and it could be fixed by a BIOS update.

The models, which are part of the recall, are the Satellite T135, Satellite T135D and Satellite ProT130 notebook computers, which had been sold from August 2009 through August 2010.
