mark-zuckerberg-facebookDec 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The CEO of popular social networking site Facebook has added yet another feather to his cap of achievements. Marc Zuckerberg who shot to global fame after launching the social networking service that has over 500 millions of users all over the world, has been chosen as the Person of the Year 2010 by the prestigious Time magazine. This clearly proves that the rumors and allegations surrounding his so called manipulative skills to reach where he is today have failed to affect his public image much. Even the buzz generated by the Facebook film The Social Network that portrayed his character in has failed to deter his success and progress as is evident from this development.

The CEO of Facebook had hit the headlines a few days ago when he showed his philanthropic side and announced that he would join the Giving Pledge. It is a joint initiative of billionaire investor Warren Buffett and Microsoft Corp founder Bill Gates. Marc Zuckerberg said in his Facebook profile that after winning the award he feels honored and it also proves the worth of the effort of the Facebook team in redefining online communication.

A strong contender for the award was the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange who is also hogging headlines for very different reasons these days. He won the online vote but the editors of Time magazine selected Marc Zuckerberg over him. However, the letter of the editor says the duo are on same level and they are “two sides of the same coin.” Earlier this coveted award was conferred to US President Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth among others.
