facebook1Oct. 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sanford Wallace, an internet marketer had to pay the popular social networking site Facebook a sum of seven hundred and eleven million dollars, after he lost the anti-spam case filed by the social networking site. As stated by the sources, Wallace was charged for unauthenticated use of people’s accounts in Facebook and sending them phony messages and posts. Sources also stated that Wallace might have to face imprisonment for this act.

It has been stated by the sources, this is the second largest award given after a site has won an anti-spam case. Almost a year ago, this social networking site had received eight hundred and seventy three dollars after winning a case filed against Atlantis Blue Capital and its owner Adam Guerbuez. The man was accused of sending sexually explicit messages to people.

Facebook is not the only site to file an anti-spam suit against an individual. Earlier, in 2008 May, MySpace had filed such case. They had filed the case against Walter Rines and Sanford Wallace for sending junk messages to the members of the site. They had received a sum of two hundred and thirty million dollars after winning the case under CAN-SPAM (anti-spam law of the federal government). Wallace also had to pay a penalty of four million dollars, as he was accused by Federal Trade Commission for creating spywares. The record states that Wallace had been fined several times for sending spams and making spyware. This time the spammer might have to face a sentence of imprisonment for unauthenticated use of people’s account.
