Jan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sony has taken the wrap off the latest handheld gaming device NGP which is probably going to replace its popular PSP gaming device. NGP stands for Next Generation Portable. The device looks drop dead gorgeous and stylish and recently it was showcased at a Tokyo press conference. There it became clear that its graphics management capabilities are on par with its bigger cousin the venerable PS3. It has to be admitted that Sony has redesigned the device from scratch and the end result is pretty impressive. There is a secondary analogue stick in the device and the USP is of course the huge 5 inch OLED display. This capacitive type touch screen has a default resolution of 960×544.
The resolution is enough for enjoying the games with sharp images. The device also has a touch sensitive track pad at its back portion. It is meant for the veteran gamers who want precise control over in game movements. The NGP comes with a couple of cameras and also packs in Wi-Fi and 3G. The UI for the device features separate home screens something we see in present generation smart phones. At last Sony has bid adieu to UMD format, instead the NGP makes use of SD card for storage. It supports Bluetooth version 2.1.
However, the dampener is that the device would not hit the shelves before Christmas which makes the wait of the gaming freaks really tedious. The cost of the device is not yet known. The device has built in stereo speakers. Sony has also bundled in GPS navigation system in this device.
