Forget days when you were always worried of your i-phone running low on battery and you were always looking for a walljack.Now, every time you step out in the sun or you hit the beach and tune in to your i- Phone, it will be self charging via its solar panel. That is exactly what offers a new dimension to the Apple i-Phone.

Reportedly, Apple is keen to have come up with the idea of implanting solar power cells in their gadgets like i Phone and MacBook. The patent filed by Apple talks about the solar cells to be encased behind the LCD of i-Phone, which shall function to soak in the sunlight itself via the screen. The out come? Without having to revamp the ergonomics (that would blow it up), the cell phone will be charged. This is reminiscent of Motorola’s patent design dating back to the year 2000. They were probably one of the very first brand to have come up with an idea of including solar cells inside cell phones. The device shall have a special case, giving shape to this unique proposal and is called the Novothink Solar Surge. These Apple certified cases are priced at $80 for i-Phone & $70 for i-pod touch.

Another market leader in mobile phones, Samsung has already introduced a similar model called “Solar Guru” which is the world”s first solar powered phone, with the solar panels finding its place right behind the LCD panel.
