Social Networking site Facebook passes Google in the ‘maximum time spent’ category

facebook_google New York, Sep 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Facebook has become the number one site that the Americans spent the most time browsing. This is according to comScore’s new figures for August. According to the Internet audience measurement firm comScore, Facebook surpassed Google for the first time in August.

According to the figures that show that Facebook users have more than doubled the amount of time they spent on the site, Americans spent a total of 41.1 million units on Facebook. That figure represents about 9.9% of the total time Americans spent of the Internet in August.

Closely following Facebook on the chart is Google Inc. Google Inc. consists of YouTube, Gmail, Google news and the Google content services. Americans spent a total of 39.8 million minutes on websites belonging to Google Inc. That is 9.6 percent of the total time Americans spent of the Internet in August.

Yahoo! Inc. completed the top three list with a total of 37.7 million minutes on its sites by Americans.

Yahoo! had been the number one website visited by Americans until this year when Google took over. It sure must be a bolt from the blue for the search engine Google to be surpassed in the ‘maximum time spent’ category by a social networking site Facebook.
