Skinbook: SNS For The Nudist

May 29, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Now everyone who prefers their birthday suit more than other clothes have a SNS dedicated solely to them. ‘Skinbook’ is a rapidly growing social networking site that is similar to Facebook with only one small exception - clothes. Skinbook caters to the nudist who are too shy or embarrassed to embrace Facebook for socializing.
Founded jointly by 24 year old Jessica Kennedy and Karl Maddocks, Skinbook has more than 9000 members and 2712 (Counting) fans on Facebook. But the SNS should not be mistaken for a porn channel says the co-founder. The member profiles are properly monitored for any sleazy content. Around 10% of the applicants get through to become members. The female co-founder has assured that any sexist or abusive behavior towards female members will not be tolerated. The average age of the members is 35-40 and the structure of the site is similar to Facebook with photo galleries, groups, blogs, events, listings, etc. the site executives have made sure that no pornographic images and headless torso pictures are allowed. They have also ensured that the ‘Voyeurs’ and ‘Creeps’ are kept out. In their words they are the No.1 nudist social networking site in the world.
The idea of Skinbook came to Karl Maddock accidentally in 2008 after he coudn’t communicate with his nudist friends through MySpace or Facebook. The motive behind Skinbook is to create a social network that allows people to be themselves. The co-founders claimed that Skinbook will help erase some of the social stigmas against imperfect bodies, because not every nudist will have tanned skin, perfect thighs and six-pack abs.
