Sep 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Research in Motion, or RIM, the makers of Blackberry devices may be ready to launch their 7 inch tablet device, called “Blackpad” everywhere, as early as Monday, but not much is known about the device, which is actually a Blackberry tablet.

RIM’s Blackberry Developer Conference will start Monday in San Fransisco, and many are expecting the launch of the new Blackpad to come then, according to the ‘Wall Street Journal’. A few suspicions are out about the device, some a little surprising.

There is no 3G antenna on this device, and according to hearsay, consumers would have to connect their tablet to their Blackberry via tether in order to have data service. This idea is hard to fathom, since the competitor tablets all connect via 3G.

It is also said that the Blackpad will not run on the Blackberry OS. It is said that instead, the device would run on a tablet specific OS which is based on QNX software. It is also rumored to come with one or two cameras, which makes one presume that it may have a rear-facing camera.Video and music playback would also likely be included.

It is not clear whether you would need a cell plan in order to use the Blackpad, but that is speculated also. In truth, until the device is actually released, no one can know for sure what it has, and can do. Until RIM actually launches the Balckpad, all we have are speculations.
