welcome-to-the-panasonic-jungle-0 Panasonic - the Japanese MNC which was formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co is all set to enter the gaming segment with its new gaming console named the Jungle. The company’s earlier effort at gaming named the 3DO was a flop. The new model is going to be pitted against the existing gaming consoles from the stables of Apple, Sony and Nintendo. It will be focused on Panasonic Cloud Entertainment a on line gaming and video content creation centric service.

The new Panasonic Jungle is a clamshell device. It has a high-resolution display as well as a QWERTY keyboard. A D pad with touch sensitivity will be on it. The device is likely to have a customized version of Linux but may support flash based content. Apart from that the device will have a micro USB port, a mini HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Jungle seems to be targeted mostly at Apple since it has similar Internet features. A number of teaser videos on the device are there on the web and Panasonic has also set up a site for the device.

Panasonic is yet to reveal the full specification of the Jungle gaming console but it is apparent that the device will have both 3G and WiFi for seamless Internet access. The company has not revealed the date of release either and in all possibility it will be released in 2011. It will be launched more or less close to the launch of the much awaited Nintendo 3DS. The pricing of the device will play a crucial role behind its success when it gets launched finally.
