OnLive Cloud Based Gaming ConsoleNov 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The launch of the OnLive Game System micro console may come as a shot in the arm for the proponents of cloud computing. The service was launched officially on Wednesday night. The next generation game system with a single wireless game controller and a router sized console can be ordered on line at the site of the company for $99 as it has been reported. The shipment of the device will commence on the first week of December the company has said. The buyers are allowed to choose one game with the device that is provided by the service. This is a limited offer though.

OnLive has also announced that it will roll out a monthly subscription service after some time. When this service is available the users can access all the games offered by the company for a preset price. As of now 35 games are offered by the service. Some of them are F.E.A.R. 2, NBA 2K11, Mafia 2. It also has plans to include some of the upcoming FPS games in its range. The concept of cloud based gaming may seem exciting but the fact is that it is still in its infancy. As opposed to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 the console offered by OnLive lacks WiFi antenna.

The micro console resembles a home router and at its port there are ports for optical audio outputs, component, HDMI and an Ethernet jack. When it is used for the first time the users may have to connect the controller and console with a USB cable. The players can pair up 4 controllers with one console.
