Mountain View, Jan 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a spectacular launch today, Google launched the Nexus One, which is their answer to the iPhone. The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC builds the Google’s new touch screen phone Nexus One.

“The Nexus One is an exemplar of what is possible with Android on mobile phones,” Mario Queiroz, a vice president for product management at Google, said during a news conference at Google’s headquarters here. The Nexus One, “pushes the limits of what’s possible on a mobile phone today,” Peter Chou, the chief executive of HTC, said.

The Nexus One has a high-speed processor from Qualcomm, which keeps multiple applications running quickly, Mr. Tseng said. HTC CEO Peter Chou said that the Nexus One features a strong industrial design, its uses a 1 GHz Qualcomm (QCOM) Snapdragon processor. The phone has 3.75 OLED display, which offers a rich display.

The price of the hugely awaited Google’s Nexus One phone is $529, which is for the unlocked version. This unlocked phone can then be used with any telecom carrier. However with a contract with the T-mobile the phone is then worth just $179. The prices seem to be at par with the iPhone and with the other smart-phones as well.

Google also plans to offer more Android-based devices to its online store in the future, for other carriers like Verizon Wireless (in the U.S.) and Vodafone (in Europe). The Nexus One will be available on both carriers in Spring 2010.
