Jan 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first tablet specific newspaper of the world is going to be launched by News Corp and it is meant for the iPad users. The online newspaper is going to be named The Daily. The launch event will be attended by Steve Jobs the Apple Inc. CEO and Rupert Murdoch the CEO of News Corp. The journalists for this iPad newspaper have been hired already. The formal announcement about the launch of the digital publication will come on Jan 19th, 2011. It will take place at San Francisco. The details have not been given by either Apple or News Corp. It is also known what will be the subscription fee for the iPad users or if there will be any fee at all.
Rupert Murdoch has said that the upcoming digital newspaper The Daily is the “most exciting project” of his company. Reports have indicated that the News Corp has spent close to $30 million in this project. The previous foray of News Corp into digital media did not turn out to be too successful. It acquired MySpace in 2005 which is now struggling to survive after the meteoric rise of Facebook. Recently it slashed its workforce in recovery bid. However, a number of technology industry veterans think that tying with Apple and a path breaking product like iPad will prove lucky for the company.
This development also proves that the iPad is here to stay the rise of the numerous rival tablets notwithstanding. The idea of creating tablet specific content may seem attractive to the tablet users who can use their tablets to stay updated on various types of news on the move.
