Nov 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new search engine, called Blekko, that promises to make web search easier for the users was launched today. Though the name has popped up on the hot search list of Google, it is unlikely that any comparison with the latter is likely to arise in the days to come. Tech bloggers have so far given a positive review of the new search engine and said that its biggest draw could be the slashtags that allows the user to filter the content that they are searching for.
Slashtags, as the website calls it, refine the search results into categories that could save time for the people searching for a particular type of article. Rich Skrenta, the mastermind behind the new search engine said that the idea was to let the public into the domain of refining the content that hire contractors to do the job for them. Blekko has also provided some additional facilities with which the users can view the SEO data and IP address of the websites. One tech blogger said that he found the idea of ordering the searches by date extremely useful.
The homepage of Blekko also has an introductory video where Rich Skrenta himself talks about his website and explains the advantages of the slashtags. The company has said that over time the search engine would start to auto slash the queries. There is also global chatter provided that provides the user with the updates regarding the new slashtags created by others. This, according to some experts, could serve as a platform for communication later. The company revealed that it has raised $24 million from investors since its founding in 2007.
