mac-updateDec 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The expectation of the Apple fans regarding the next version of iPad is gaining momentum with each day and the industry buzz suggests that the successor to the popular Internet tablet may be launched early next year. However, Apple has not said anything on the issue so far. Instead, what looks almost confirmed is a revamp in the Macintosh computer lineup, both laptop and desktop. As a matter of fact, Apple refreshes its iMac and MacBook range from time to time, usually once a year. The MacBook Pros are likely to get a facelift as well as some major internal changes. In the last few years, Apple fitted them with ATI and Nvidia chips for graphics. It is expected that the new range will be shipped with Intel’s much touted Sandy Bridge CPUs. The new range is likely to be unveiled at 2011 CES.

The new Mac range may come with the OSX LION10.7 installed. The pricing of the new iMac and MacBook Pros are also expected to undergo a revision and for the first time Apple may adopt a competitive pricing. Apple rumor sites say that the new lineup of Macintosh laptop and iMacs will be built by Quanta and Foxconn. Apple usually relies on Quanta for the iMacs. However, to cope up with the demand it also gives the production duty to other vendors.

The existing lineup of iMacs use a 21 inch and 27 inch display but the new lineup may include a new screen size. The new MacBook Pro is likely to be made slimmer than its existing version. It is not known whether Apple will use SSDs in the new MacBooks like it has done with the MacBook air.
