New Macbook AirOct 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Apple once again surprised its fans by presenting a revamped version of its lightweight computing device Macbook Air. The ultrathin and lightweight laptop which looks drop dead gorgeous has been made from a single block of aluminum. Incredible as it may sound it is even smaller than the earlier version and the inclusion of a SSD means enhanced performance. The display comes in options of 11.6 inches or 13.3 inches. The performance does get a boost with the inclusion of Intel Core 2 Duo CPU. The graphics performance also has been beefed up with a powerful NVIDIA GeForce GPU Mobility chip. The front facing camera is ideal for webcam chat.

Steve Jobs looked buoyant when he unveiled the device. The Macbook Air however does not have either a traditional optical drive or a HDD. This has been done to keep the footprint on the smaller size. The SSD storage capacity may not be enough for the demanding users and it starts from 64 GB. The capacity can be maxed to 256 GB. This is adequate for most of the users.

Honestly speaking the Macbook Air comes closest to the net books in terms of looks yet delivers a much better performance. The weight is only 2.9 pound for the 13.3 inch model. This is going to give the rivals who have been focusing on the size of netbooks to think about serious performance boost. Apple however has not introduced touch screen functionality in the pint sized model. The price of the 13.3 inch model has been fixed at $1600 and the smaller model will cost $1000 as it has been reported.
