New Jersey, May 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Principal of Benjamin Franklin middle School in Ridgewood, New Jersey has reportedly asked parents to see to it that their kids do not indulge any more in the social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter. According to reports, principal of the school, Anthony Orsini has sent an email to parents and the school community on Wednesday where he has mentioned that it’s time to take stands against the social networking websites.
Anthony Orsini has mentioned in his mail that he finds “absolutely” no reason for the children of the middle school to be in the social networking websites. The principal has maintained that the social networking websites induce “psychologically detrimental” behavior which is also known as “cyber-bullying”. He said that such cases have increased in recent years among younger school children. However, Anthony Orsini has not only asked parents to ban their children from using Facebook and Twitter, but also asked them to limit their child’s cell phone use. Cell phone use is a common practice in the middle school. The principal has also provided a list of guidelines to be followed by parents to restrict their children.
Not many parents and other school authorities are happy about the ban that has been imposed by Anthony Orsini. While according to some parents, children should be rather guided to use such media correctly and efficiently than being deprived of it. Eric Sheninger, who is the principal of New Milford High School principal on the other hand reportedly, said that the children must be allowed to use Facebook and Twitter accounts both in school and at home.
