motorola droid proOct 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is no doubt Motorola - the famous mobile handset maker is back in the scene and this time it is eyeing the pie of the smart phone segment which is largely dominated by Apple and Research In Motion. The company which went into near oblivion a few years back staged a successful comeback with the Droid, renamed Milestone in Europe. Thereafter it has released a number of feature rich high end smart phones running on Android including the Motus or Backflip. The latest offering from the company is the Droid Pro which the industry experts see as a potential threat to BlackBerry. This model also runs on Android OS and it seems that Motorola is going to stick with it for quite some time.

Sanjay Jha the Co CEO of Motorola said that this model is meant specially for the hardcore business users. It sports a generous 3.1 inch TouchScreen and full QWERTY keypad. The model comes with robust security features which used to be a weakness with the Android based phones. It has the capability of remote data wiping in case the handset gets lost or stolen for some reason. However the recently Released Droid 2 and LG Ally also come with this feature. The users of Droid Pro can also wipe the memory card remotely which is a hitherto unheard feature.

However, Motorola still lacks the device encryption technology employed by RIM for its BlackBerry smart phones. The Droid Pro also supports the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync technology. This is where it comes very close to RIM’s push email technology. The Droid Pro supports both GSM and CDMA standard which is a boon for the business users.
