Mar 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a recent development that has taken the mobile handset industry by surprise, US based mobile giant Motorola is going to bundle Microsoft’s Bing search service with its Android OS based smart phones in China. This is quite surprising as Motorola managed to bounce back in the scene owing to its Droid model which also runs Google’s android OS a few months back. The android based smart phones generally have Google as the default search engine. The move has been affirmed by both Microsoft and Motorola.
Even though Motorola has kept mum on the issue, many industry insiders are suspecting that the move is a result of the recent war between China and Google over the internet usage policy of the country’s government. Google even threatened to shut down its operations in China over the issue. It will aid Microsoft no doubt which is trying desperately for years to grab a share of the internet search market hitherto dominated by Google. However, Motorola has not disclosed the amount of deal that it gained because of the agreement with the Redmond based software giant.
Google on its part has said that it will not allow the Google mobile applications to be available on the upcoming Android sets sold from China based operators. Earlier, Google also staled the launch of two Android based handsets in China. Google has not reacted to the move by Motorola yet, but the experts guess that it would not be pleased with the Motorola- Microsoft alliance. Motorola Backflip- launched in the USA offers Yahoo as the default search as well.
