Jan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a development that has made headlines and created sensation among the millions of Facebook users, a Facebook Fan site meant for no one other than Mark Zuckerberg its CEO, was hacked. The hacking was observed Tuesday morning but it was not something that would bring the site down. It comprised of a false status update but it turned out to be another security lapse for the popular social networking entity often criticized for loose security measures. After the hack a fake status update from the CEO which was actually posted by the hacker was posted on the fan page. The updates goes : “Let the hacking begin: If Facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way?”
The post was available in the fan page just for some minutes but it was noticed by several thousand users given the fact that Facebook has over 550 million users all over the world. More than 1800 users of Facebook has liked the status update and 2.8 million people are fan page members. To tackle the incident Facebook team had removed the fan page altogether for some hours. However, the fake post resurfaced leaving them red faced. It is not known who made the hacking to the fan page of the famous CEO of Facebook.
The web security analysts are still trying to find out how the hacking took place. It could be owing to the password choice of the Facebook CEO or its inherent security loopholes that were exploited. Facebook has nor remarked on this development so far.
