Cupertino, Aug 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the wake of the recent Apple’s antenna problems with its latest version of smart phones, Mark Papermaster, the senior vice president of iPhone and iPod hardware has decided to leave the company. The announcement was made on Saturday by the spokesman of the company Steve Dowling. The spokesman issued a brief statement announcing the news but declined to comment any further. It is not known for sure whether Mark Papermaster is leaving on his own will or was fired by the company. Steve Dowling added that the position of Mark Papermaster will be held by Bob Mansfield, the company’s vice president of Macintosh hardware engineering.
Mark Papermaster shared the responsibility of ensuring the glitch free working of iPhone’s hardware. His resignation comes a week after the company announced that it will be providing free protective cases to the customers who have bought the latest iPhone and suffered the antenna problem. As per the reports, many buyers have complained about the faulty antenna and their call getting dropped in mid way. Being dubbed as “death grip”, customers complained that even gripping the phone with a bare hand set off the wireless signal. Apple’s Protective case promises to alleviate the present problem.
In the past one few weeks Apple has received numerous complaints from customers and different media outlets. In the wake of the crisis, the company was forced to offer free fix to its customers. The antenna problem is undoubtedly a rare one that has been faced by Apple after a launch of a new product. Consumer Reports asked the company to compensate the buyers for the glitch.
