Dec.15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Korea based Consumer electronics giant LG is known for making innovative technology products that set new benchmark for the industry. In the last few years LG has put its focus on manufacturing smartphones and high end mobile phones with hitherto unseen technologies. When it announced about its forthcoming projector phone, it created a sensation in the market and made the users curious. Now the phone is out in the market and can be bought from USA’s leading network provider AT&T.
The Expo GW 820 from LG is powered by a SnapDragon CPU that runs at 1 GHz, which is quite impressive for a Cell phone. It is the first smart phone to offer a projector. The screen has a generous 800480 resolution and the 3.2 inch touchscreen is quite responsive. The phone has fingerprint security system embedded. While the projector included in the phone may not match up to the performance of a standalone projector, it will be ideal for the corporate users who need to give presentations for business and official purposes while on the go.
The Projector phone is also rich in multimedia features. Its 5 MP camera takes clear and bright images and the slide out QWERTY keyboard is a joy to use. However, LG has not used Android OS in this phone and it runs on Windows Mobile OS 6.5. Owing to the inclusion of the projector, the phone is a little on the bulkier side. According to the industry buzz, Samsung is also coming up with another similar phone. While the projector is the USP of the phone, it needs to offers solid overall performance to edge ahead of the other feature rich smart phones.

I think that LG made a mistake by choosing Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, rather than Google’s Android.
The statistics published by InformationWeek on 5 December show that most of the business phone users have stopped using Windows Mobile and have gone to Blackberry and iPhone, with Android expanding rapidly.
I worry about using a phone platform that has ever decreasing market share. I think LG should have made it an Android phone. Hopefully Samsung will.
