New York, Jan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After weeks of speculations, New Corp has officially announced that the iPad -only ‘newspaper’, The Daily, will be launched on the 2nd day of February.

Subsequently News Corp has sent out invitation to all media outlets to attend the event that will be held at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The invitations were sent out on Thursday.

It was highly reported that the event would be held on the 19th day of January. That turned out to be a mere rumor. Other sources claim that the delay was due to the fact that News Corp and Apple needed time to iron out some differences arising from the product’s subscription.

Details amount subscription to the Daily has also been released. For now, only iPad users will be able to enjoy the service. They will be required to pay $0.99 a month to keep the service running on their device. Subscribers are required to sign up to the service on iTunes.

It was highly expected that Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs and the CEO of News Corp, Rupert Murdoch will launch the project together. However with Steve Jobs on hiatus due to ill health, it is not clear whether that initial arrangement still stands.
