Kim Dotcom to appeal against judge’s decision
February 28th, 2012 - 10:34 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattAuckland, Feb 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Kim Dotcom, the embattled founder of Megaupload, is confident that all the charges against him will be dropped after the trial. The self-confessed former hacker was speaking to newsmen for the first time since he was released on bail in New Zealand.
Dotcom and three of his former employees have been arrested at various places in the world. The US Department of Justice has requested to have the four extradited to the country to be tried for copyright-related infringements.
The New Zealand judge has barred Dotcom from using the Internet as part of his bail condition. He registered his protest against the bail terms when he said that, “It went way too far, it was out of all proportion, we feel that the action taken against us was political.”
All of Dotcom’s funds have been frozen. The court says this will ensure that he does not flee from the country. During a chat with Torrentfreak, Dotcom joked that, “You should have been here, it was amazing, it was like a war zone. Armed police everywhere….two helicopters.”
When he was finally released from jail, Dotcom told reporters that he was relieved to be going home. He indicated his happiness to get back to his wife and children. Dotcom has three children and expecting a fourth with his wife.
