Fukuoka, Japan, Dec 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Internet search giant Google is facing legal lawsuit from a Japanese woman who claimed that her underwear appeared on its Street View imaging service. The media outlets reported that the lawsuit was filed for $7,000 US dollars or 600,000 Yen. The woman, reportedly, said that she feels that she might be the target of a sex crime. The woman filed the case in October, the media outlets claim.
The Japanese woman, reportedly, said that she searched for her address in the Google web-page and found that her home and her garments’ photos are displayed on the Street View. The woman said that she suffered anxiety attack after she saw the photographs and as a result she even lost her job. The Japanese woman, whose name has not been disclosed, said that she even changed her home as she thought she might be targeted someday. A reputed media outlet reported that Google officials have removed the image from the web-page.
According to media sources, the Japanese woman said that she feels it is wrong to display someone’s inner garment in a public forum. She also said that she suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and was forced to believe that Google was following her everywhere and recorded all her secret activities. If reports are to be believed, then this is not the first time that Google has faced charges of invasion of privacy. In United Kingdom, it was reported that Google broke many privacy laws, however, later it agreed to delete all the passwords and private emails of the netizens. In Germany also, Google received invasion of privacy complaints, however, no legal step was taken against the search giant.
