Nov.8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) When the IT industry is trying to cope with a major OS upgrade from Microsoft, the reports of a new Trojan infection has made the web users cautious. The Trojan horses are not exactly like computer viruses. However, they might cause severe damage to a PC or a network of PCs in the long run. It creeps into the PC of a user after skipping the anti virus security and sits in the system without being detected. Once it manages to give the anti virus a miss, it invites more malicious scripts and viruses from the web, thereby making the PC susceptible to attacks.
The new Trojan is known by the name Daonolfix. According to the early reports, it has the potential to become the new version of Conflicker. The latter was a worm that infected millions of computer users worldwide. It can also spread from an infected PC through the USB drive and over network. The security experts have warned that Daonolfix belongs to the Win32/Daonol Trojan family. Therefore it has the capability to spread rapidly through network and Internet. Once this Trojan starts working in a PC, it can cripple the system.
It can block the access to the Internet altogether, in an infected computer. Still worse, it can redirect The Internet searches to malicious and phishing websites. The Trojan is capable of evading the anti virus software by replicating itself. The people who are paranoid about PC security can see the Avira website. There they can find a helpful Daonolfix removal guide. However, a firewall is the best option to keep such Trojans at bay, according to Microsoft.
